Dr. Tae Cha, DMA

Dr. Tae Min Cha is a Korean-American tenor who performs and teach throughout Baltimore-Washington D.C. area. He has appeared in roles of various opera productions such as Martin in The Tender Land, Nelson Deadly in Too Many Sopranos, Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Lord Bishop in Children of the Sun, an East Coast Premier of the opera, Monostatos in Papageno!, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas and more. He has also performed as part of the opera chorus for several opera productions such as La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, South Pacific (Henri), Faust, Street Scene, H.M.S Pinafore, Mikado, Die Fledermaus and much more.

 

Outside of performances, Dr. Cha teaches voice in his private studio in Columbia, Maryland, holds a contracted voice faculty position at International School of Music, and recently joined the voice faculty at Washington Adventist University. He teaches voice not only to approach the Classical genre, but also genres Musical Theater, Pop, K-pop, Gospel, and Contemporary Christian Music. Dr. Cha has various experiences teaching a wide range of age groups, beginner to intermediate, and casual to professional level.

 

He has been involved with Korean American churches throughout Baltimore-Washington D.C. area, serving as Music Director, Minister of Music, Praise leader, Tenor soloist, Praise pianist, and Sound engineer. He continuously performs charity, benefit, and mission concerts and recitals with churches, organizations, and foundations.

 

Dr. Cha holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from The Catholic University of America under the tutelage of Rick Christman, Graduate Performance Diploma in Vocal Performance from The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Ah Young Hong, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Towson University under the tutelage of Gerald Phillips.
